FAQ about the Scholarship

Can I request extra time to apply?

Yes, if you need additional time or help with the application process, please email us at calif.tourette@gmail.com

Can I apply if I took a gap year after high school?

Yes, as long as you will be a freshman in college for Fall 2023 and took no longer than 1 year after high school graduation.

I live in Kansas, can I still apply?

This scholarship organization gives priority to the 5 most Western states in the US.  But we accept appications from all states.

Do I have to be a US citizen to apply?

Not necessarily.  We don't ask for a social security number. We just want your state of residence to be in the US and you have a permanent residence in the US.  Students residing in other countries are not eligible.

I don't have a high GPA, should I still apply?

Yes, Please apply. GPA is not the biggest factor in receiving a scholarship.  We recognize that many students with TS have needed help to learn and therefore, overall improvement in grades is more important than final GPA.  Explain any learning disabilities, and  school difficulties in your essay.

If I am awarded the scholarship, is it one time only or ongoing for more than 1 year?

This is a one time only scholarship for the fall semester.  If we fundraise more money, we may get back to you with future opportunities, but at this time it is one award.

How do I receive the scholarship if I am awarded?

The scholarship will be sent to your college financial aid department before you begin your first day of fall classes.  The funds arrive to your financial aid department with a letter detailing what the funds can be used for. Tuition, books, lab fees, supplies etc are typical items that the money can be used for.

Will I be notified if I DON'T receive the award?

Yes, you will receive an email letting you know that your are not in the final awardee list.

If I have more questions, what can I do?

Please feel free to email us with any questions:  calif.tourette@gmail.com.  We will email you back with helpful information.
